DESCRIPTION
To understand the current realities associated with technological growth, access to unlimited amounts of information, and the constantly changing workplace, organizations are investing in employees who can think creatively and critically, solve complex problems, and make sound decisions. Problem Solving & Creative Thinking is a course designed to help students expand their ability to think, to enjoy the process of being creative, and to improve their performance in the workplace.
INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
sTerry Rogocki is a Canadian citizen with a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Training, a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, and Certificates in Intercultural Studies and International Development. He currently runs Global Outlook Consulting, a small-business with a focus on intercultural and skills training. Before moving to Cambodia in December 2013, Terry was a lecturer at the University of British Columbia (Canada) focusing on Intercultural Communication, Global Leadership, and Organizational Behavior. He also conducted business seminars for the private sector, and was an ongoing soft-skills trainer for SAP software. Terry has built-up 25 years of experience through his work as an English teacher and researcher in Japan, the Director of a Canadian-based private language school, the Livelihoods Advisor for an NGO in Sri Lanka, and through work, study programs, and travel in over 85 countries.

An analysis of the creative process, and a chance to think more deeply about how creativity works…and sometimes doesn’t.

Are people born creative? Can a person really say that they are not creative? What traits make people creative, and why?

  • Creative Work Environments

A chance for students to assess how workplaces encourage or suppress creativity in employees? What are some ways to stay creative regardless of the work environment?

  • Creative Activities Workshop

Creativity is best learned through doing. Students will practice hands-on techniques and critique methods in order to apply them to their own contexts.

  • Application to the Workplace

Through final presentations, students will demonstrate how they will apply what they have learned in the course to their workplace practices.

Job Hunting & Interviewing is a course designed to teach participants how to stand out in a competitive marketplace as a prepared and capable professional. Students are taught how and where to find the right job using the internet, and networking to their advantage. They will learn how to construct a professional image by writing an outstanding CV and cover letter which will increase their chances of securing an interview. Students will also learn valuable interviewing techniques, such as dressing appropriately, responding to questions, understanding and controlling body language, and how to exhibit good manners throughout the interviewing process. Lastly, students will learn how to negotiate salary and the proper post-interview process to ensure a successful conclusion.

robertRobert V. Longo is an American citizen with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Juris Doctorate in Law. He practiced as a criminal trial lawyer with the U.S. military in Germany where he honed his advocacy skills before entering the financial sector working in sales and client development with multinational insurers and banking institutions. Robert entered the teaching profession 5 years ago and has lectured throughout Asia teaching business, finance, law and his most favorite area of interest, communication and presentation. Currently, Robert is the Executive Director at Cam-ASEAN and also conducts corporate training programs.

The global era has stimulated the need to understand the international movement of people, practices, and products. In Cambodia, this is particularly important to understand when viewing the current realities associated with ASEAN integration, and increasingly diverse workplaces. Intercultural Communication is a course designed to help students become more aware of cultural differences, to build knowledge on how to interpret those differences, and to develop skills on ways to become more effective in the workplace.

Conversational English is a course which gives students the necessary tools needed to improve their conversational skills and to develop an effective articulation. Each session covers a different centeric for students to expand on through a variety of activities, such as reading articles, watching videos and conducting class discussions. Mr. Saint Meassnguon

Mr. Saint Meassnguon is now a Program Director and Business English Instructor at Cambodia-ASEAN International Institute. He has been a member of curriculum development team, a senior lecturer and an academic supervisor at Western University of Cambodia. He was a lecturer of Business and Leadership at University of Puthisastra from 2014 to 2015.

Mr. Saint Meassnguon did his two post-graduate programs – Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Management at Charles Darwin University, Australia, and Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies (Education and Research for Development) at Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP).

 

Mr. Sok Phanna

Holding a Master of Environmental Law from the University of Melbourne, Australia, Mr. Sok Phanna is currently a consultant of Pact Thailand in the project titled ‘Mekong Partnership for the Environment’, a member of the Sub-Technical Working Group on the draft Environmental Code of Cambodia, a lecturer of law at the Royal University of Law and Economics, and a Program Manager of Fisheries Action Coalition Team (FACT).

His previous employment includes working as a Legal Officer at Samreth Law Group from 2010 to 2012 and a Senior Legal Officer at Vishnu Law Group from 2012 to 2014, and teaching English as a foreign language from 1999 to 2008.

As of the present, Mr. Sok Phanna has had approximately ten years of working experience in the legal sector, including NGOs and law firms, and more than ten years in the teaching profession.

 

Mr. Robert Mein

Mr. Robert Mein is now a trainer of public speaking at CAMBODIA-ASEAN International Institute (CAM-ASEAN). He is a judge of Public Speaking and various competitions. He is also a General and Business English instructor at CAM-ASEAN. From 2008 to 2013, he was a volunteer teacher at New Futures Organization (NFO) in Takeo province. He has been an education coordinator at NFO since 2016 to present.

Mr. Robert Mein has 8-year experience in teaching non-native English speakers.

 

 

 

Mr. Jonathan Solly

Mr. Jonathan Solly hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies from Bournemouth University, UK. He is now a skills trainer and Business English instructor at Cambodia-ASEAN International Institute.

Since 2014, he has trained students for working overseas and employees in Vietnam and Nepal on various skills includes Professional Writing, Advanced English Conversation, Negotiation, Presentation, Customer Care, and Team Building.

From 1998 to 2014, Mr. Jonathan Solly used to be a Managing Director of Chris Fowler International (Asia) Ltd., the Hong Kong based subsidiary of a global financial print firm. He was responsible for strategic planning, sales, marketing and operations.
